New Program Provides Unparalleled Hands-On Training Experience For
Aspiring Artists Taught By Industry Leading Experts
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Gnomon
School of Visual Effects, the industry leader in professional
training for artists in the entertainment and design field, recently
announced its first full-time three-year curriculum for aspiring artists
wanting to work in production for movies, games and television.
Beginning in summer 2010, the Entertainment
Design and Digital Production Program blends one year of foundation
art and design classes with two years of digital production to prepare
students for a career as a digital artist in the film, video game or
broadcast industries. As with all of Gnomons programs, the goal of the
new comprehensive curriculum is to develop the digital entertainment
industry’s most well-rounded and production-ready artists.
“The Gnomon School has long been recognized as a leading institution for
advanced training within the digital entertainment industry, and we are
now proud to expand access to Gnomon though the new Entertainment Design
and Digital Production program,” said Alex Alvarez, Founder of Gnomon
School of Visual Effects. “With the new three-year program, students
without a foundation in art can now quickly and affordably develop their
skills to begin a career in one of the most exciting and lucrative
fields for artists today. As Gnomon instructors are working
professionals in the industry’s leading studios, our students receive
exclusive hands-on instruction that makes them ideal job candidates upon
graduation.”
Unlike some conventional curriculums, Gnomon’s Entertainment Design and
Digital Production Program is blended to provide both a core foundation
of toolsets, as well as specialized tracks that prepare students to work
in the field of their choice. Gnomon’s curriculum is geared towards the
development of both artistic and cutting-edge technical skills to ensure
that students’ skills can be applicable to all industries of
entertainment, including games, broadcast or film. In addition, Gnomon
uniquely provides an advanced learning experience with classes taught by
leading visual effects artists that specialize in each field of study.

LONDON — Fine Living Network, a full-spectrum lifestyle television channel
and interactive brand, will debut April 1 across more than 60 countries
in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The international distribution of Fine Living Network, or FLN as
it is also known, is the latest product of a joint venture that was
created last year between Scripps Networks Interactive, Inc. (NYSE:SNI)
and Chellomedia’s UK-based business unit Chello Zone, part of Liberty
Global, Inc.
As part of a rebranding initiative, FLN will step into the distribution
footprint created by Zone Club, a women’s lifestyle and entertainment
channel that Chello Zone contributed to the joint venture when it was
created in November. From the outset, FLN will be seen in 2.6 million
households throughout the EMEA region.
FLN’s debut follows quickly on the heels of the launch of Food Network,
the joint venture’s first channel launch. Food Network is now
distributed to over 10 million homes in the U.K. and EMEA.
FLN further enhances Zone Club’s lifestyle offering by targeting five
content genres – Home, Cuisine, Travel, Style and Wellbeing. The service
will draw on premier productions from Scripps Networks, as well as
complementary programming from third-party producers.
Ground-Breaking Project Will Grow Customer Bases and Increase ROI for
Content Providers and Advertisers
AMSTERDAM — Irdeto,
a leading expert in content and business model protection solutions and
services, today announced that middleware and interactive TV technology
provider Selevision has selected Irdeto’s middleware solution and
conditional access system (CAS) for its new High Definition Personal
Video Recorders (HD PVRs). The HD PVRs, currently in field testing in
Saudi Arabia, will enable content providers to run highly tailored
advertisements – a market first in the Middle East. In addition,
Selevisions HD PVRs will be protected by Irdetos CAS and secure chip
set – another first for the region – to allow the company to
comprehensively secure premium content, while delivering a personalized
experience for consumers, through uniquely selected programs and
commercials.
“Irdeto’s technology meets our needs for a flexible solution that
enables us to deliver targeted content to consumers, while protecting it
against piracy, which continues to be rife in this region,” said Dr.
Raed Khusheim, CEO and founder of Selevision. “Irdetos solution allows
us to constantly enhance our targeted advertising capabilities. Irdeto
was a natural choice for us, given the company’s proven track record of
delivering industry-leading conditional access solutions in the Middle
East. We look forward to expanding our services to other regions, and to
continuing to work with Irdeto.”
According to Informa,
at the end of 2014, the Middle East and North Africa region will have
approximately 50 million multichannel TV homes. This means that more
than 70 percent of households will have either cable or satellite
television. In response to this growth as well as the need to
differentiate themselves to both advertisers and viewers, Selevision
selected Irdeto’s industry-leading middleware technology to empower
advertisers to effectively reach a wide range of viewers with ads that
are directly relevant to consumers.
“The advanced features and functionality that the Selevision HD PVR
offers to consumers and advertisers is a testimony to the maturity that
Irdeto middleware has reached,” stated David Canellos, senior vice
president, sales and marketing for Irdeto. “The Middle Eastern market is
ripe for innovation, and the ability to reach viewers with targeted
advertising is increasingly important, as audiences are progressively
looking for content that is personalized and relevant.”
